“I believe that we can create a poverty-free world because poverty is not created by poor people. It has been created and sustained by the economic and social systems that we have designed for ourselves; the institutions and concepts that make up that system; the policies that we pursue.”
Professor Muhammad Yunus needs no introduction – his thinking has pioneered a more humane capitalism, and the new global movement of social business. He has also led us to a new vision of poverty – one of agency, where the poor are seen as able to help themselves, and of being helped by business. This vision has been a true inspiration to our founder and CEO Bonnie Chiu, and we were honoured to meet Mr Yunus at One Young World end of September in Ottawa.
