We are very proud to announce that our 23 year-old Co-founder Bonnie Chiu has been awarded the Asian Women of Achievement Award sponsored by NatWest on 12 May 2016.
Bonnie co-founded Lensational on International Women’s Day in March 2013 with the aim to empower women in the developing world through participatory photography. Since its launch, Lensational has taught photography to 300 women across 9 countries, giving them the tools and confidence to share their own stories.
Lensational believes that photography is an enabler of agency. We want to move beyond the monolithic image of victimhood, because women and girls not only have overlapping identities – mothers, daughters, friends — but are also individuals with talent, dreams and aspirations. This is also the spirit of the Asian Women of Achievement Awards, and we are incredibly honoured that Bonnie has been recognised with this prize.
Once again, congratulations to Bonnie!
